Special Spectators Run/Walk
This is the time of year for getting outside and moving more. We all know that the more you move the more you burn. And it is about time we start sheding away some of those winter pounds. The best way to get motivated is by training for an event like a 1/2 marathon or a tough mudder. I find that when you are training for something you are more likely to do it because you have a tangible goal with an end in sight.
If you are a novice to the racing world I would start with a simple 5k walk/run. During the spring and fall you can find these events in most towns featuring a worthy cause. The good thing about a run/walk is you do not have to run the whole thing. You can walk if you get tired. For those moms and dad out there you can pop your kids in the stroller and push them down the path. Usually a 5k will take about 1 hour if you are walking it. It is a great way to start the day and get your body moving.
In our area there is a 5k Walk /Run in Johnson Park on April 28, 2012 for Special Spectators. I urge everyone to go. The race starts at 9 am. See you there!
